Setting:


This book takes place in present day in a rich community.

Plot:


This story is told in first person point of view. The main character, Ruby, is the narrator. Ruby and her mother were perfectly happy with their life in the big yellow house; then her mom left. Now Ruby has to move in with her sister, Cora, Who she hasn't seen in ten years. She has to attend "the rich school" where she knows she won't fit in. Will Ruby learn to love her new home, or will she run away?

Ruby is an average teenage girl. She's rebellious and doesn't want to live with her sister. Antagonist, Protagonist
Cora is Ruby's sophisticated older sister. She owns a huge house in a rich neighborhood. Protagonist
Jamie is Cora's husband. He owns a popular website that everyone knows about. Protagonist


Minor Characters

Nick is the neighbor boy. He becomes Ruby's first friend in this new place. Protagonist


Internal Conflicts:


Ruby must learn to accept her new home, but she doesn't think she'll be able to. This conflict is resolved when Ruby tries to fit in and make new friends.

External Conflicts:

Ruby and Cora haven't seen eachother in ten years. They're complete strangers. This conflict is resolved when the two sister finally start talking and hanging out.




Theme:


Life will go on. You may lose everything yo've known, but you always find a way to move on. This is shown when Ruby discovers she's happy with her new life.
